 Lloyd Hoffstatter -
Vice President of Engineering

Concern about the environment and the 1973 oil crisis led Lloyd (M.S. in Applied Solar Energy, 1985, Trinity University) to pursue a career in solar energy, as an energy technical specialist at the NY State Energy Office, and a systems engineer at SunWize Technologies, Kingston, NY.  Before joining Mercury, Lloyd was an independent solar electric (PV) system designer, instructor, and NABCEP certified PV installer.

In his current role as Vice President of Engineering, Lloyd and the engineering staff are responsible for the electrical and physical design and layout of both commercial and residential projects, as well as providing customer support, working with electrical, building and utility inspectors to provide safe, code compliant systems, and installation management and technical support of the installation crews.

As the rapid growth of PV from off-the-grid use only to utility scale projects continues, with ever-improving equipment and technical requirements, Lloyd and his staff at Mercury will continue to work hard to provide effective solar solutions for both large and small clean energy users.  “I am excited to be working to help bring solar technology to a large range of new customers, as both the use of renewable energy and Mercury Solar continue their rapid growth.”

In his spare time, Lloyd enjoys listening to music and hiking in the Catskills with his wife Katie, and spending time with his 3 children and 2 grandchildren.
